A Series of Short Videos

-----

Our new video series Inside the Music asks regional musicians this: if you had ten minutes to talk directly with someone in our audience, maybe even a newcomer to jazz, what would you like to tell them that would enrich their listening experience, and give them some insight into what’s happening on stage.  As a jazz musician, you've got a unique perspective from your side of the bandstand about what goes on during a performance. How the mechanics, the energy and even the poetry aligns to bring everything together. What do you hope the audience takes away from listening and watching you perform?

Pianist Peg Delaney talks about her experiences working with singers and the magical interactions drawn from the Great American Songbook, melodies and lyrics that have left an indelible foundation for jazz in all of its multitude of styles.

We are delighted to share our premier video featuring bassist Michael Bisio, who has been called a poet, a wonder and one of the most virtuosic and imaginative performers on the double bass. He is a recipient of the prestigious Artist Trust Fellowship and has over a hundred recordings in his discography.  JazzTimes described Michael Bisio’s performances as resonating with intelligence, emotional depth and probing virtuosity.
